I just happened across these beautiful cakes by Magpie Cakes and was mesmerized by their delicate beauty and uniqueness! Maggie – Artist and Chef based in DC has a background in dance, which seems to somehow influence her amazing creations! Look her up if you are on the East Coast and need a cake. She may even travel to the West Coast for special events!

Judy and Billy are the sweetest couple and their day was so relaxed and fun to photograph! They had their ceremony at the DoubleTree in the rose garden on a perfect day in May!
Here is the slideshow of my favorites from Judy and Billy’s day:

WOW! It’s been so long since I’ve posted anything on my Blog! I have been so busy shooting and editing weddings – every weekend, that it leaves little time for updating my Blog! Even though I would love to have time for it all, balancing my work and my total dedication to my family definitely seems to fill up my schedule! This summer has been the busiest season yet and I am loving every minute of it! At the same time, my day job – being a stay-at-home mom to my 2 1/2 year old twins is just a rewarding! Honestly, sometimes my husband and I look at our lives and can’t really believe it! We’re amazed and grateful that we are where we are and have what we have! Still, we are definitely busy…but our girls keep us in check and show us what’s MOST important at the end of the day – our love and our family! That’s why wedding photography is so dear to my heart as well! I get to photograph the commitment that couple’s are making to one another and witness their deep and profound love! It’s beautiful and makes me so happy to be a part of it!

Marriage is such a beautiful union and I am so happy that it is still celebrated the way that it is! I wish that there were fewer divorces and wish that people would honor the beautiful words that they speak to one another on their wedding day more often! But it’s hard! To be completely honest, I have not been a perfect wife at all times! It’s easy to forget to be kind when life’s stresses get in the way, or deeply rooted family patterns arise. I wish I knew what I know now then, when we first got married. But at the same time I’m grateful for our path and for all that we have learned together. My husband and I got married very young and have been through a lot of good and bad. What we have now is truly incredible and I am so thankful everyday that we ‘made it through’ not only for us but for our beautiful girls! Relationships take work and dedication to maintain and even though I knew this, I did not really understand this until much later in my relationship (after I had done some damage). Still, what’s truly beautiful, is that if both partners are willing, something even more special and real can emerge from the wreckage. I’m such a believer in marriage and love and I’m truly lucky to be able to be there to capture love in photos!

One-Room School House

May 9, 2010

Yesterday, I had the privilege of photographing this authentically restored one-room school house. In September, I will be photographing a wedding here, and yesterday I was invited to the ranch to photograph the couple’s Engagement Session and familiarize myself with this historical building. I couldn’t help grabbing a few shots of the interior details (which will be mostly cleared out for the wedding). My dad grew up in South Dakota and attended a one-room school house during grade school, so it was fun to see this place and think of him in a similar room as a child.

New Engagement Photos

April 30, 2010

I thought I would post a few shots from an engagement session I shot about a week ago up at Lizard’s Mouth. They are such a fun-loving, cute couple!
Wow! I feel like it has been a lifetime since I’ve posted anything here! Life has been busy this past month with our move into our new home, getting our girls (twin two year olds) adjusted to their new surroundings, unpacking, getting organized, lots of new engagement sessions, wedding bookings, client meetings, a couple weddings, getting sick, etc. But we’re happy to be settled in and enjoying our new place now!
