This session is meant to focus entirely on you; capturing your beauty and radiance in your third trimester!  Husbands/partners and other children are also welcome and encouraged to be a part of your session if you would like.

My Fine Art Maternity Sessions are intimate and ethereal and meant to capture your true beauty. I bring wraps and different drapes with me that we will use to cover your body in a way to create a timeless feel in your photographs.  We will also photograph you topless or nude if you so desire, to capture your beautiful pregnant shape.

When to schedule your appointment:
The best time to be photographed is during your third trimester between 30 and 34 weeks (although any time before your baby is born is fine). We want your belly to be showing nicely, but want to catch you before you start to feel too tired or puffy towards the end of your 9 months.  Please schedule your session as early as possible as my availability does fill up.

The Day of Your Session: 
I will arrive at your home with my camera, lighting and background equipment, and all cloths and wraps we will use for your photo session. It will take about 15 minutes for me to quickly set up my equipment, during which time I like to discuss any unique visions you might have for your photographs. This time also gives us a chance to get to know one another and for you to feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Please be sure to wear loose clothing before I arrive so that your skin does not have any unwanted marks showing. If you wear makeup, you may want to apply it a little darker than normal for your photographs. Also please keep in mind that anything you do not like can be easily removed later by retouching, so if you are worried about a new bulge or wrinkle or spot, let your worries go and just let me know what you would like taken out of your final images.

When To Schedule A Newborn Appointment:
It is very important to have your newborn photographed as early as possible, ideally within the first week. They change so quickly and we want to make sure we catch them while they are still sleeping soundly, curl up easily, and have that precious newborn look which is so fleeting.
If possible, call early with your due date, and I’ll make a note in my calendar. When your baby is born, call or e-mail me right away and I will give you the first available appointment, usually within a few days.

The Day of Your Newborn Session:
Heat the room we will be photographing in before I arrive. Photographing newborns naked is definitely the sweetest look and they will be so much more comfortable if the room is hot. Please make sure to have a few diapers, a towel to stand on, and some baby wipes to quickly catch any surprises that will certainly happen during the session.
I’ll arrive at your home at the scheduled time and set up my lighting and background and we’ll begin.  Typically I photograph the baby in daddy’s or mommy’s hands as well as curled up on a blanket. I will have you wear a black long sleeved shirt for some of the photographs as well as go topless for some (if you are comfortable).  Plan on a newborn session taking around three hours  (although it may take less time depending on your baby).  Newborns need to take many breaks, and I’m happy to wait until they’re content and ready… and hopefully sleepy!
I understand many parents are excited to get a portrait of their new family, but during a newborn session I like to concentrate on just photographing the baby. They are so small and delicate during this time. Pictures with siblings and parents are best done when the baby is a little bit older and has found their smile. 

When to Schedule Your Baby Session:
Around three to six months, after they begin smiling. This is a great time to take beautiful mama & baby portraits, portraits with other siblings, as well as some darling pictures of your little one laughing.  Babies change so much during their first year, anytime is a good time to document. Popular times are at newborn, three months, six months, nine months, and one year.
